BENEFITS OF CARROT JUICE

Carrot-juice considered as a ‘miracle juice’, is known for its very rich healthful benefits. All the contestants aiming for the beauty pageants are bound to run for a glass of carrot juice on reading this particular article. Carrot is a very sweet, warm and an edible bulbous root. It is rich in minerals like potassium, sodium, magnesium, phosphorous and many others. It is also rich in calcium, which is very easily digestible by the body. In fact, it contains six times more calcium than a potato. Carrot juice is a wholesome diet for growing children because it is a good source of calcium and carotene. Because of its beneficial aspect, it was considered as a medicine by ancient Greeks.

It contains carotene (pr-vitamin ‘A’) which is very beneficial to the eyes. This is why, it is considered to be an excellent food for maintaining health of the eyes. Vitamin ‘A’ is an imperative element in an Infant’s up bringing. When children consumed carrot juice, it was seen that they gained lot of vigor. Many people have observed that by inclusion of carrot juice in their diet, there was an overall improvement in their health. The Beta-carotene found in carrots is an anti-oxidant which prevents cell degeneration and in-turn is known to slow down the ageing process. Carrot juice is known to be good for glowing skin and is also very beneficial for one’s hair and nails. Regular intake of carrot juices is known to reduce the blemishes on the skin. People, who are beauty conscious, are surely going to make a run for a glass of carrot juice.

It’s also thought to reduce the risks of cancers. The high amount of carotene content in carrot is often considered to be the cancer fighting agent. Various experiments conducted have shown that animals fed on a diet containing sufficient amount of vitamin ‘E’ developed resistance to cancer. Carrot juice has a property which checks cancer. It also contains a hormone known as tocokinin. This is an insulin-like compound which has been proved useful in diabetes.

Carrot juices also give relief in fistula, worms and dysentery. It eradicates windiness and cough. Juicing a carrot is much more beneficial than eating one. The fibre in the carrot aids digestion but many of the nutrients are trapped in these fibres and, some of the part of the fibre is in-digestible. Thus juicing the carrot removes the indigestible part. When one eats the carrot only about 1 % of the beta carotene is absorbed by the body where as when we drink a glass of juice almost about 90 % of it is absorbed. Carrot juices are like tonics and two glasses of carrot juice a day increases one’s immunity by 70%. So, the next time your child asks for a drink, do not go for the soft drink, instead give him a glass full of refreshing carrot juice.
